STAN, the connection between students and Antwerp
Hey, new student from Antwerp or far beyond. We are STAN and we’re challenging you to the craziest game ever. How to get the absolute most out of your student life? Not just by partying (which, we must say, we’re pretty good at), but by expanding yourself to the max. And that’s exactly what STAN encourages you to do.
STAN stimulates students to let them make the most out of their student lives. Not just by partying, but by letting them develop their talents to the max. We show them the way through their student lives, share secret tips and at the same time, we are all ears for them when they need us. Moreover we’re doing this mostly together with them. With STAN, we’re putting our students on a stage in the middle of Antwerp. To see them evolve into the most open, powerful, passionate, ingenious, creative and critical human beings that they could possibly be. That is our biggest dream. And we’re convinced Antwerp will be their most glorious partner in crime. Hence our name: STAN, Student & Antwerp.
STAN is a collaboration between the city of Antwerp, the Antwerp universities and colleges and the Antwerp Student Council.

- Directions & insider tips Feeling lost as the gates of your brand-new student life swing open? Keep calm, STAN is just around the corner. Our experts by experience, our students or also called ‘the STANciens’, are eager to clear up any uncertainties. On www.stanstan.be, via our socials @STANAntwerp and the student maps, our student editors will keep you up to date with all the ins & outs!
- STUDY360, studying with a view Gone are the days when the study period equaled weeks of solitary confinement in your dorm. Studying together, sharing exam suffering and breaks, has since become a household name for Antwerp students. This is why, since 2015, STAN has been looking for unique locations to study: all striking spaces, some with stunning views over the city and all gathered under the name STUDY360.
- The welcome event of the year: StuDay Antwerp students have known StuDay for years as an unforgettable welcome party at the beginning of the academic year. With StuDay we set Spoor Oost on fire with a mix of four zones. Dance to the hottest beats in the Dance zone and play sports and challenge each other in the Play zone. The Recharge zone is there for relaxing a while and in the Discover zone you can discover what Antwerp has to offer you. And all that on the last Thursday of September! Are you ready for this amazing day?
- The Great Antwerp Student Survey STAN hears you! To really know what you need as a student, STAN has regularly been organizing surveys since 2013. The spotlight is - rightly - on you. Those who know us well, know that we do not stop at results. Need more shared study spaces? Hello STUDY360. Attention to mental well-being? Welcome to CABIN, the new warm meeting place for students. It's really all about you!
- Welcoming international students to the city Antwerp is a world city! Also for international students and we at STAN know that. That's why at GATE15 we roll out the red carpet for them at the start of the semester. And that includes a tour guide with insider tips to discover a part of Antwerp. There is no better first impression of Antwerp for exchange students.
STAN also organizes numerous other projects together with various partners.
- Stuvent.be: Since 2023, STAN, the city and the Antwerp Student Council have combined inspiration, participation, practical arrangements and support on one platform. The one-stop shop for the organizing student.
- Kotweb: A quality dorm policy and reference database for students looking for a dorm in www.studentkotweb.be hosted together with the city and Antwerp higher education institutions.
- CABIN: Together with JAC, we create a warm place for Antwerp students to be, meet and discover and showcase their talents.
